Who is who

A retailer (a business that buys ShopSection) uses it to run their stores and online shop. Their staff sign in to work. A shopper buys from the retailer. For a shopper's details the retailer decides what is collected, and we keep and process those details on the retailer's behalf.

What we collect

• From this website: what you type into the demo or checkout form, which is your name, work email, mobile number, company, GSTIN if you give it, and your message. Also the page you arrived on and any campaign it came from.
• When you pay: the plan, the amount, and the payment reference and method reported by the payment gateway. Card numbers, UPI PINs and banking passwords are entered on the gateway's page and never reach us.
• Retailer account: business name, branches and addresses, tax details, and the people who may sign in.
• Business records the retailer creates: products, stock, purchases, bills, orders, and their customers' names, contact details and purchase history.
• Technical: server logs with IP addresses and times, kept to run and protect the service.

Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry, set up your account and provide the service you paid for.
• To send verification codes, invoices and service messages.
• To answer support requests, prevent misuse and keep the service secure.
• We never sell personal data, and we never use a retailer's shoppers' details for our own marketing.

Who we share it with

• The retailer sees the records of their own business, and nobody else's.
• Our payment gateway partner processes payments made to us and receives the name, email, mobile number and amount needed to do so.
• Messaging, email and courier providers a retailer switches on receive what is needed to deliver a message or a parcel.
• Our hosting provider runs the servers and stores the backups.
• Authorities, when the law requires it.

Cookies

This website sets no advertising cookies. The software keeps your sign-in in your browser so you stay logged in.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries are kept while we are in conversation with you and for a reasonable time afterwards.
• A retailer's records stay while their account exists, so they can see their history.
• Tax invoices for what you paid us are kept as long as Indian tax law requires, even after an account is closed.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, and you may withdraw consent you gave. A shopper who wants their details removed can ask the retailer they bought from, or write to us.

Security

Data travels over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and access on our side is limited to the people who run the service.

Changes

We will post any change here with a new date, and tell customers by email before a change that affects them.
